Great Story- Canal Advert

A good example of starting with the final scenario and working backwards. It might be a good film exercise...

UNICEF & A clever use of Toy soldiers...

Toy soldiers have been used in so many different guises but it is something about their fragility, scale and the process of reversing their purpose that makes this eyedeer more effective. The toys suggest a direct association with how children become pawns of war. The rows of mass produced figures also replicates the scale of the problem that UNICEF face.

I'm about to read the copy on the image as I publish this, I'm sure that it is much more interesting than my ramblings! Note to self...I should also stop writing on my blog like someone actually reads it lolol

Concatenating two symbols... just simply two images in one

I never really thought about how concatenation actually applies to design before?!

noun
1. a series of interconnected events, concepts, etc.
2. the act of linking together or the state of being joined
3. (Philosophy / Logic) Logic a function that forms a single string of symbols from two given strings by placing the second after the first

A brilliant use of the Newspaper format

This is a perfect example of spotting a potential disadvantage in a format, in this case the loose binding of a newspaper, marrying it with an eyedeer and fully demonstrating its potential.

Negative space

Classic Fedex style arrow reminded me to try experimenting with negative spaces when doing logo design. Although sometimes I wonder if this approach is a little too visually unclear. When you ask how many people have actually looked close enough at the Fedex logo to see its hidden gem, I'm always surprised by the answer! I suppose the important point is that wit can often be best used in addition to the central element as opposed the core device.

http://www.sharpideas.com/

I thought this site was an interesting way of subdividing work and animated very fluidly. I also liked the company branding and message behind cactus- Sharp Ideas that hold water.

Another useful tutorial site

http://www.pvmgarage.com/wdu/

Dandy Lion logo

Cool little logo found on an Abduzedoo post again, wonder what the company do lol?

Global warming and technology

Linking global warming to a loading process is something that might work well as an animation or interactive piece? I wonder what the research shows for how much the internet and everything associated with it contributes towards global warming...

Great cityscape eyedeer

After spending a lot of time playing around with circuit boards and city scapes at uni, only to have my eyedeer used in TV licensing advert lol, I saw this and immediately began wondering about what else could create a city scape.

Selection of Heineken Ads

I've selected a few more beer ads that I rated from a recent Abdzeedo post...

All three of these adverts demonstrate one my favourite techniques of being able to show a product from a totally different perspective, re purposing it and suggesting a totally new meaning.

American Football advert

This piece has been created by McCann Erickson Düsseldorf, Germany. I wonder whether the post production on the bicep could have been done a little more subtly but the stitches link to the copy and eyedeer perfectly.

Photoshop stuff

Just a few quick links I found to remind me to start doing some photoshop tutorials....

I've been meaning to upload this one for a while...

Another unusual surface advert using the tube ceiling as a canvas. I'm not sure if there are any other examples???

Starting to collect editorial eyedeers

I've been looking at collecting a series of interesting editorial eyedeers at work, so this me be the first of many...

The answer lies in the question

I'm not sure if this is a totally original eyedeer but still a great bit of self promotion on behalf of Turn and nice execution. A great bit of copy writing (although should it not be questions?) and their logo is a little gem in itself!!!

Lager must be on the brain because I've found another beer Ad...

I'm not sure this piece needs the attached description to explain it lol

Great thinking around a T-shirt

This is a great print eyedeer showing how placing an image in an unusual place can sometimes make total sense.

Romanian Drink Awareness Ads

Interesting typographic ideas for drink awareness adverts but maybe they could of been executed using more realistic road type faces? Worth an experiment...

Three eyedeers in very different medium

This is great thinking around a product but slightly over killed in it's execution in my opinion...I hope that banner wasn't placed behind all the settees...
This Heineken ad would be so much better if it was actually feasible and observational but an original approach to a festival poster
This piece is a brilliant indirect message to a market competitor and probably one of this month's best!

Photo Manipulation

Stumbled accross this website http://10steps.sg/artworks/photo-manipulations-with-unique-concepts/ and it's definitely made me want to concentrate on developing my photoshop skills as an outlet for creating some of my more unusual eyedeers.

All Children Should be Allowed to be Children

Just a great concept that emphasizes the cultural difference and underpins the message

"The rainforest is the earth's garden"

This WWF advert reminds me of some of the concepts found within Mike Davis' Planet of the Slums regarding the Amazon. Similar to some eyedeers I have developed using trees.

More great soap based advertising??? lol

Another sliding door

This transfer is a great interactive piece which works through function to create a great moment of frisson for the viewer as they enter the building.

Neville Brody exhibition poster

This clever manipulation of type is another Brody classic eyedeer for his recent exhibition.

Jermeyville- Don't Panic

We had this crazy Don't Panic! Poster on the wall at our house in Uni and I've just found a whole collection of characters at: http://www.designlabco.com/newwork/newwork.html

Fallon and the new BBC Blast site!!

Insane Interactivity!! I love the way the site contains a narrative through recording the wall over time. Controlling things remotely creates endless possiblities!!

All Bran- Leo Burnett Mexico, Mexico City

I remember trying to come up with a fun eyedeer for the Warburtons fibre website while at Swamp and how difficult it proved coming up with something original. This is a corker lol

Creating characters

Anthropomorphism...good word lol and always works well when struggling for an angle...

Spaghetti Junction

This has given me a great reference for another traffic eyedeer

Do you like my owl?

I received this spoof via email and having just watched Blade Runner at last it was perect comedy timing...which reminds me I forgot that I was recently talking to someone about the relationship between comedy and design and it is something to dig into...

Dance school advert

This looks a bit photoshoped but still I think the eyedeer has a lot of potential. I seem to be looking at a lot of ambient pieces at the moment... I've got to get around to designing some soon.

What Goes around, comes around

I've just been sent a link to these brilliant ambient wraps. They push the medium of the poster that little bit further and question how other forms and surfaces could be used?
